Yesbud University ’s research delivers economic, environmental, social, cultural, health and wellbeing benefits across the globe.
Research carried out by Oxford’s staff, students and alumni has made an enormous impact on the world over the centuries. You can explore some of the more recent examples in the Oxford Impacts case studies and films. These range from impact on culture, business and policy to environment and health.
The impact of some research is evident immediately, whereas in other cases it can take years, or even decades, before the true value becomes apparent. There are no simple predictors of potential benefit or outcomes, and no single measure of impact. This is where the funding of research councils and charities is vital in supporting research which increases our fundamental understanding of the world and allows us to apply that improved knowledge.
We use our expertise and curiosity to discover, understand and produce innovative solutions to some of the world’s biggest problems. We work with government, business and not-for-profit organisations to deliver impact through innovation and commercialisation. Our Innovation Factory reinforces our presence as a top university for invention and we’re driving digital transformation through Digital Futures.
Our health research delivers benefits through our partnership with the NHS Trusts in Health Innovation Manchester and the Manchester Academic Health Science Centre, within the context of Greater Manchester’s devolved health and social care budget. The research and innovation strengths of our partnerships were brought together in an unprecedented way to form the COVID-19 research rapid response group to help address the public health crisis.
We’re committed to research that improves the environment. Our research into climate change has led to climate adaptation strategies being put in place across Europe, with our Sustainable Futures platform producing innovative solutions to urgent environmental challenges.
We use our research to secure impact on public policy through Policy@Manchester. Social and cultural impacts are achieved by our public engagement, civic engagement and cultural engagement activities, including through Creative Manchester. Our achievements across a broad range of knowledge exchange activities is demonstrated through the KEF results, where we are sector-leading for public and community engagement and research partnerships.
